Mar 29, 2007

DALLAS and LOS ANGELES, March 29, 2007 – Texas Instruments (TI) and the CBS television show "NUMB3RS" today announced that the award-winning national math education initiative, "We All Use Math Every Day™," has received one of the first-ever iParenting Media Awards for best educational Web site. The "We All Use Math Every Day" Web site, cbs.com/numb3rs, is featured as a winner for Web sites targeting teens age 14 and older.

The "We All Use Math Every Day" initiative was developed by TI and CBS, in association with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), to inspire students to achieve more in math by showing how the subject is relevant to their lives. Using the hit CBS television show, NUMB3RS, the "We All Use Math Every Day" initiative provides free classroom activities online at cbs.com/numb3rs that help students understand how the math they are learning in the classroom applies to the real world. The activities explore the math derived from the concepts used to solve cases in the FBI crime-solving show.

The iParenting Media Awards Program, Best Products of 2007, evaluated products ranging from high-tech toys, safety gear and educational software to helpful books, audio CDs and for the first time, Web sites. All products were thoroughly evaluated by experienced reviewers to determine which ones exceeded the standards to earn the award.

"iParenting has been reviewing products for families for more than 10 years, and we are proud and honored to take on that responsibility," says Alvin All, Chief Executive Officer of iParenting Media. "The iParenting Media Awards program is an unprecedented process that carefully reviews and then recognizes the best products in the marketplace and shares them with parents. The products submitted in our Best Products Call for Entry were diverse and appealing, and we are proud to name the "We All Use Math Every Day" Web site as an award winner and one that exceeded the high evaluation standards we set."

Since "We All Use Math Every Day" launched in September 2005, more than 43,000 supporters have signed up for Teacher Kits. Those who register for a Teacher Kit also will receive a weekly e-mail newsletter packed with classroom activities and insider information about the "We All Use Math Every Day" initiative.
At cbs.com/numb3rs, educators can download free Spanish- and English-language activities and sign up to receive the free Teacher Kit which includes program information, classroom activities, a classroom poster and bumper sticker. The Web site features a library of NUMB3RS Season 1, 2 and 3 activities, information and tips for parents on how to help keep teens interested and engaged in math, and exclusive insider information about the "We All Use Math Every Day" initiative.
