DALLAS and HARTFORD, CT - (October 5, 2005) - Navi Rawat, star of the Paramount / CBS hit TV show "NUMB3RS," will appear at National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) regional conference and exposition on October 7th in Hartford, Connecticut to promote a new mathematics education program, "We All Use Math Every Day," developed by Texas Instruments (TI) and in association with the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM).

"We All Use Math Every Day," based on the hit series "NUMB3RS," is a unique outreach program that uses the math featured on the TV series to engage and interest more students in the subject matter and help them see how it impacts their world. The program includes TI and NCTM-developed classroom activities for teachers and students that can be found on cbs.com/numb3rs. "NUMB3RS" airs Friday nights (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Rawat, who portrays graduate student Amita Ramanjuan on the show, will be participating in a Q&A session about the show and meeting with math teacher attendees afterward to sign autographs. Rawat is enthusiastic about the program and enjoys hearing teacher and student feedback about how "NUMB3RS" has inspired them to get more interested in the use of math beyond the classroom.

The conference takes place October 6 - 8 in Hartford, offering over 3500 teachers the opportunity to participate in presentations, workshops and exhibits of the most recent materials, all designed specifically to help classroom teachers improve the teaching and learning of mathematics for all students.

"I'm excited to be part of such an innovative program that encourages kids to learn more about math and the amazing role that numbers can play in life and in business," said Rawat. "Playing Amita on the show is a great role for an actor, as is having the chance to help to educate people about the importance of math, which makes my job even more rewarding. This is a terrific program and I'm proud to be a small part of it."

In addition to her starring role on "Numb3rs," Rawat is a successful actor whose resume boasts an impressive list of credits including roles on the Emmy Award-winning "24," to"The O.C." She portrayed Ben Kingsley's daughter in the critically acclaimed film "House of Sand and Fog," and also heads the cast of Project Greenlight's highly-anticipated foray into horror, "Feast" for producer Wes Craven and Dimension Films.
