Texas Instruments and Avnet Electronics Marketing Present Digital Motor Control Seminars

DALLAS (September 30, 2005) –Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) and Avnet Electronics Marketing (NYSE: AVT) will host a comprehensive technical seminar series, entitled “Digital Motor Control,” in 14 U.S. and Canadian cities. TI’s team of technical experts will present advanced motor control circuit design techniques, demonstrate software tools, and discuss issues that enable engineers to move through their design development cycle rapidly and cost-effectively. The one-day seminars begin with a morning session on digital signal controllers. This four-part session will cover digital control of variable speed motors and focus on the TMS320C2000™ digital signal controller platform. Instructors will demonstrate real-world examples and offer advice on achieving optimum performance and integration in motor control systems. During the afternoon session there will be a review of the signal chain and discussions on data converter drives and analog solutions that complement C2000™ digital signal processor-based controllers. The presentation also includes ideas for monitoring currents in motor control systems with a focus on closed- and open-loop sensors and shunt resistors.

Engineers will also learn about the different kinds of PC-based design tools available from Texas Instruments -- all geared toward streamlining their designs. The free software tools include:
