TI Unveils New 8mm 30W Isolated Power Modules for Telecom, High-end Computing Markets

Dec 5, 2002

WARRENVILLE, IL (Dec. 5, 2002) -- Texas Instruments (TI) announced today a new series of 30W isolated power modules in an 8mm ExcaliburTM package that helps to simplify design of multiple converters with high-end microprocessors, digital signal processors (DSPs), logic and analog for telecommunications and high-end computing applications. The PT3400 series of devices provide designers with the industry´s lowest output voltages, as well as increased thermal performance and lowest cost. See: power.ti.com/sc02292.

The PT3400 series of 30W DC/DC converters accept input voltages from 36V to 75V and deliver output currents from 7A to 16A depending on output voltage. In addition, the new PT3400 series includes a power-up sequencing control pin that simplifies power sequencing when more than one module is used to power ICs with more than one power rail. The PT3400 also boasts a six million hour mean time between failure (MTBF) and lead-free construction.

Availability, Packaging and Pricing

PT3400 integrated power modules are available in volume today from TI and the company´s authorized distributors. The devices are available in a surface-mount, vertical through-hole or horizontal through-hole styles (65.5mm x 37.08mm x 7.9mm). Suggested pricing for PT3400 products is $42.38 per 1,000 units.
