October 31, 2000 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) today announced the LMV7251/55 and the LMV7235/39 comparators housed in National's tiny SC-70 Silicon Dust? packages. These products are ideal for a number of battery-powered portable consumer applications, including cellular phones, notebook computers and PDAs.

"The LMV7251/55 and LMV7235/39 complete our comparator portfolio and complement the LMV7219, a high speed comparator that was introduced last year," said Oleg Steciw, marketing manager for National Semiconductor's amplifier product group. "The introduction of these four new comparator products allows National to offer a low cost, low power solution in both the SC70-5 and SOT23-5 packages, giving designers the flexibility to design into small spaces while still maintaining high performance."

Using National's state-of-the-art micro-power design, the LMV7251 and LMV7255 comparators need only 12uA to activate. Low power consumption, small package size and a 1.8V-5.0V supply voltage range are key features of these comparators. The LMV7251/55 also offers low 12uA current consumption and rail-to-rail input and output. Push-pull output capability in the LMV7251 and open-drain output capability in the LMV7255 give designers more choices to optimize their circuit designs.

National's LMV7235 and LMV7239 offer 45nS of symmetrical signal propagation delay (tpd), while consuming a very low 65uA of current, a great power-to-speed ratio. This enhances battery life while addressing customers' need for a mid-speed, low-power comparator solution. Both the LMV7235 and LMV7239 support rail-to-rail input and output, and the ultra-small package allows designers more flexibility to fit into space-limited sockets. The LMV7235 has open drain output capability and the LMV7239 has push pull capability.

National's LMV7219, introduced last year, is a high-speed, low power comparator with 7nS of symmetrical signal propagation delay (tpd), that consumes only 1.1mA of current. The LMV7219 comparator is housed in SC-70 and SOT-23 packages and operates at a voltage range of 2.7 to 5V. Target applications are high-speed digital signal conditioning, printers, bar code scanners, set-top boxes, or any application that requires high-speed, reliable digital signal refreshing.
