National Semiconductor and Arrow Electronics Launch Arrow.National.com, a New Web Site Focusing on High-Voltage, High-Power Solutions

Combined Expertise of Two Electronics Industry Leaders Create Joint Web Site for Distributed Power, Isolated Power and Point-of-Load Solutions for Industrial, Telecom, Networking, Automotive and Consumer Electronics Systems

Jan 11, 2005

January 11, 2005 - National Semiconductor Corporation (NYSE:NSM) and Arrow Electronics, Inc. (NYSE:ARW) today announced the availability of arrow.national.com, a new Web site integrating the latest products, design tools, information and solutions for flexible, high-voltage power solutions.

The new site is designed to speed time-to-market for new electronic products by offering the fastest possible solutions for Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) controllers, hot–swap controllers, isolated primary power conversion and point-of-load regulation designs. The site features links to 18 high-performance National power products, WEBENCH® online tool simulations, free product samples, power product selection guides, application notes and online seminars, as well as access to nominally priced evaluation boards. The products and solutions at arrow.national.com are ideally suited for industrial power supplies, distributed power systems, telecommunications and networking systems, automotive power systems and consumer electronics.

“National provides more than 15,000 types of high-technology analog products worldwide,“ said Mike Despotes, Vice President, North American Marketing and Sales at National Semiconductor. “Arrow.national.com is specifically designed to help National’s 90,000 small- and medium-sized customers  imagine, design, test, prototype and order parts for their new products faster and easier than ever before. Through our linkage with Arrow, customers have instant access to the combined products, services, tools and expertise of two recognized industry leaders.”

“Arrow’s reputation in supporting customers’ design requirements and its expertise in logistics and supply chain management are an ideal complement to National’s large portfolio of power management, amplifier, data conversion and interface products,” said David Doherty, Vice President, Marketing, Semiconductor Supplier Services Group at Arrow Electronics. “Arrow.national.com is working proof that we share a vision of a single, seamless online environment that accelerates the business of creating high-technology products.”

Visitors to arrow.national.com may learn the latest analog design information at National’s online distance learning facility, Analog University®, which now features more than 100 free self-paced classes. The recently announced interactive product selector, Solutions.National.com enables users to visualize an application, then quickly select the optimum components. National's new online research tool, Knowledge Base (KnowledgeBase.national.com), is designed to work closely with Analog University. Knowledge Base offers instant access to 1,820 data sheets, 750 applications notes, 350 frequently asked questions and the National Edge online monthly magazine. In addition, arrow.national.com users have immediate access to National’s design tools for analog products, including the WEBENCH® environment for wireless, power, amplifiers and the recently announced audio environment. Today, the WEBENCH user community around the world has grown to more than 80,000 design engineers.  Nearly 20,000 designs are created every month. For “techno-tainment,” users can always log into the latest edition of the Bob Pease show for a lively, informative seminar on analog technologies.

By linking with Arrow, users have access to Arrow’s suite of solutions ranging from technical discovery to design support, materials planning, inventory management, prototype, internal and external manufacturing as well as end-of-life data for thousands of products. And Arrow makes available skilled sales teams and field applications engineers to provide expertise at a local level for all  design needs using National Semiconductor products..
