National Semiconductor to Showcase Domestic, Municipal and Specialist Lighting Solutions at EuroLED 2009

May 20, 2009

What: National demonstrates LED lighting driving and control expertise at EuroLED
Where: EuroLED 2009, Ricoh Arena, West Midlands, UK in Hall 2, Booth LED 43
When: June 3-4, 2009

May 20, 2009 – National Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:NSM) will showcase its latest energy-efficient LED lighting products at EuroLED 2009, June 3-4, at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, UK. The company will display solutions tailored for a range of applications including architectural, commercial, residential, industrial and ambient lighting. Demonstrations will include: the industry’s first TRIAC dimmable solution for domestic LED lighting; street lighting driven by National’s constant current switching regulators; a DMX based control system for stage and event lighting; and an emergency lighting unit.

EuroLED Lighting Demonstrations – Hall 2, Booth LED 43

  • LM3445 TRIAC Dimming: National’s LM3445 TRIAC dimmable LED driver enables LED lighting to be controlled with a conventional TRIAC wall dimmer in the same manner as existing incandescent or halogen lighting. The LM3445 delivers a wide, uniform dimming range, free of flicker, and can also be retrofitted to incumbent installations.
  • LM3402 Street Lighting: Part of National’s energy-efficient PowerWise® family of products, the LM3402 constant current buck regulator will be demonstrated driving street lighting on the exhibition stand. The lights will be controlled via a powerline modem.
  • LM3406 Stage and Event Lighting: Capable of driving high-brightness LEDs up to 1.5A, the LM3406 buck regulator forms part of a stage lighting control system driving and dimming a set of RGB LEDs. The demonstration includes color mixing realized through an onboard microcontroller. The demonstration system features SPI and RS-485 interfaces to enable multiple lighting units daisy-chained and controlled via a DMX system.
  • LM3410 Emergency Lighting: An emergency lighting demonstration will be shown based on the LM3410 constant current boost and SEPIC LED driver and utilizing the LM5021 AC-DC current mode PWM controller.

EuroLED Conference Presentation, 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2009

Chris Richardson, Systems Marketing Engineer, National Semiconductor, will be presenting a conference paper titled “Simple Solutions for High Power Wide Area Lighting” at 9.30 a.m on Thursday June 4.
