National Semiconductor Expands SolarMagic Global Distribution Network

National Semiconductor’s Power Optimizers Available Worldwide Through More than 20 Sales Partners

Oct 26, 2010

Oct. 26, 2009 – With the recent addition of 18 new distribution partners, National Semiconductor has aggressively expanded the worldwide network for its SolarMagic™ power optimizers to include regional sales channels on four continents, bringing the total number of distributors and installers to 22 only months after the product’s initial launch.

“SolarMagic provides solar installers and homeowners worldwide with a solution to the real-world conditions, such as shade and panel mismatch, that threaten PV system performance and reliability,” said National’s Global Sales and Services Manager Aaron Thurlow. “Our network of respected global partners will help us meet the growing demand for SolarMagic through the continued expansion of our distribution channels.”

SolarMagic distributors in Europe now include SunGlad in France, Solar del Valle in Spain, VP SOLAR in Italy and soleg in Germany. In the United States, National has entered partnerships with distributors such as InterIsland, Empire Clean Energy and DC Power.

“As a nationwide provider of quality PV system components, we continually search for products that can benefit customers from all corners of the United States,” said Daniel Marino, executive vice president at DC Power. “Our customers face everything from towering trees in the Northeast to dust storms in the Southwest, and we believe SolarMagic to be one of the best comprehensive solutions to help them resolve these issues and improve their solar array performance.”

“Traditional French architecture with its small rooftops and myriad chimneys and architectural obstructions creates unique shading problems and puts solar system performance at a premium,” said Pierre Aguerreberry, chief executive officer of France-based SunGlad. “SolarMagic gives the French market unparalleled flexibility in system design and helps us ensure our customers get the most power possible out of their systems.”

In addition to broad distribution channels in Europe and Asia, National has an expansive installer network for SolarMagic in the United States, including partnerships with Sierra Pacific, Mercury Solar and Alteris Energy.
