National Semiconductor to Present Latest Domestic and Municipal Lighting Solutions at EuroLED 2011

Jun 1, 2011

What: National demonstrates LED lighting expertise with its range of LED lighting drivers and controllers
Where: EuroLED 2011, Jaguar Exhibition, Ricoh Arena, West Midlands, UK. Hall 1, Booth LED 424
When: June 8-9, 2011

Fuerstenfeldbruck/Germany – June 1, 2011 – National Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:NSM) will present its latest energy-efficient LED lighting technologies at EuroLED 2011, June 8-9, at the Ricoh Arena in West Midlands, UK. National will display its solutions for a number of applications including residential, commercial, industrial, outdoor area and ambient lighting. Product demonstrations will include National’s flicker-free TRIAC dimmable solution, street lighting powered by National’s constant current linear regulators, an LED powered directional spotlight using National’s step-down constant current source, P-channel MOSFET controllers that drive high-brightness LEDs in flood light applications and National’s WEBENCH® LED Architect design tool.

EuroLED Lighting Demonstrations – Hall 1, Booth LED 424

• LM3445 TRIAC Dimming: National’s LM3445 LED driver avoids visible flickering caused by a TRIAC forward or reverse phase dimmer and overcomes this problem by translating the TRIAC-chopped waveform into a DIM signal and decoding it to a DC signal. Two separate demonstrations involving the LM3445 will show, respectively, LEDs replacing an incandescent bulb which is dimmable with a standard TRIAC dimmer and LEDs replacing a traditional fluorescent tube and ballast.

• LM3464 Street Lighting: Designed for a streetlight application requiring multiple thousands of total lumens, the demonstration will show the LM3464, a four channel, constant current linear regulator controller with dynamic headroom control (DHC), powering four separate strings of 12 series-connected LEDs each at a maximum current of 350 mA per string.

• LM3414 Spot Lighting: This demonstration will show the LM3414HV, a step-down (buck) constant current source powering four series-connected LEDs in a directional spotlight with waterproof housing.

• LM3409 Flood Lighting: A series of demonstrations combines the LM3409 PFET buck controller with Luminus’ CSM-360-W high-brightness LEDs for floodlights. Well-suited for use as a constant current source driving high-brightness LEDs, the LM3409/09HV P-channel MOSFET controllers for step-down current regulators offer a wide input voltage range and high conversion efficiency.

• WEBENCH LED Architect: National’s WEBENCH LED Architect is a quick visual tool for complete lighting system design of up to 100,000 lumens in output.  LED performance, electronic drive current and heat compensation are balanced in seconds, allowing both novice and expert designers to perform real-time comparisons and optimize complex lighting systems for performance, size and cost in minutes.  Try out WEBENCH LED Architect at www.national.com/LEDarchitect.
