Mid-Voltage NexFET MOSFETs for high-current motor control designs

TI introduced 14 power MOSFETs in TO-220 and SON packages that support input voltages from 40 V to 100 V. The high-efficiency NexFETs include 40-V, 60-V, 80-V and 100-V N-channel devices that provide excellent thermal performance to a wide range of high-current motor control and power applications.

Flyback power solutions (UCC28910 and UCC28630)

Two flyback power solutions from Texas Instruments achieve the highest energy efficiency and lowest standby power consumption for 5- to 100-watt AC/DC power supplies. The UCC28910 700-V flyback switcher and UCC28630 high-power, Green-Mode controller expand TI’s leading portfolio of flyback controllers covering the complete power range of AC/DC adapters and power supplies used in personal electronics, printers, white goods and smart meters.

Lowest jitter PCIe clock buffers (LMK00334 and LMK00338)

The LMK00334 and LMK00338 are high-speed current steering logic (HCSL) clock fanout buffers that support PCI Express (PCIe) Gen-1, Gen-2, Gen-3 interface standards. The LMK00334 creates four buffered copies of an input clock, while the LMK00338 produces eight buffered copies. They deliver 70 percent lower additive jitter and significantly higher supply noise rejection than competitive devices, providing system designers with ample jitter margin over the PCIe 3.0 specification. Both devices are supported in TI’s new WEBENCH® Clock Architect to help simplify clock tree design for high-speed communications, networking, and data center systems, including servers, switches and routers. 

WEBENCH Schematic Editor

Texas Instruments unveiled WEBENCH® Schematic Editor, a new editing and simulation feature that enables engineers to customize power management designs and simulate the circuit created within the WEBENCH environment.  Engineers can now add components and wiring to modify the power supply design, conduct SPICE simulations on the new circuit, and then export the modified schematic to a computer-aided design (CAD) platform.  This new feature dramatically reduces design and verification time from hours to minutes.

12-bit, 4-GSPS JESD204B ADC (ADC12J4000)

The RF-sampling ADC12J4000 is the industry’s fastest 12-bit analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It clocks in at 4 GSPS and supports the JEDEC JESD204B serial interface standard for data converters up to 8 Gbps, while consuming 50 percent less power than competitive devices. Measuring 9-mm by 9-mm, it is also the smallest IC in its class. The ADC12J4000 can be used in test and measurement, wireless, and defense applications, such as spectrum analyzers, munitions, digital pre-distortion feedback and radar. 

LVDS FlatLink™ receiver supports 4-Mhz pixel clock (SN65LVDS822)

The SN65LVDS822 is the first LVDS receiver to support a 4-MHz pixel clock for small LCD displays. Compared to competitive devices, the SN65LVDS822 FlatLink™ LVDS receiver accepts a lower pixel clock, enabling 30 percent longer video transmission distance, with 60 percent fewer wires to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI) and power consumption. It’s aimed at printers, copiers, appliances, digital cameras, and gas fuel pump displays.

SIMPLE SWITCHER 12-V, 750-mA DC/DC nano power regulator (LMR22007)

TI's SIMPLE SWITCHER® nano power regulator is the industry’s smallest 12-V, 750-mA DC/DC converter that delivers 94.6-percent peak efficiency in 30-mm2 footprint.

12.5-Gbps 8-channel multi-protocol repeater (DS125BR800A)

The DS125BR800A is an 8-chanel multi-protocol repeater that is the industry’s first signal conditioner capable of driving the serial-attached SCSI (SAS-3) protocol. In addition to supporting the faster data rates of the newest SCSI standard, the DS125BR800A is compatible with existing 3-Gbps and 6-Gbps SAS link rates used in data center applications. It also supports the PCI Express (PCIe) Gen-1, Gen-2, Gen-3 and SATA 1.5-Gbps, 3-Gbps and 6-Gbps interface standards. This flexibility allows equipment manufacturers to employ one device for multiple protocols with data rates up to 12.5 Gbps.

18- and 16-bit SAR ADCs from 100 kSPS to 1 MSPS (ADS8881 family)

The ADS8881 family includes 12 high-performance, ultra-low power 18- and 16-bit SAR analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with speed options ranging from 100 kSPS to 1 MSPS. The family also includes six TI Precision Designs reference designs to jump-start design. With the ADS8881 family, engineers can chose the right ADC for a wide variety of applications – from high-end industrial, such as high-performance test and measurement equipment, precision metrology and precision sensor transmitters for industrial automation, to battery-operated test and measurement and portable medical. 

Industry’s fastest 16-bit DAC at 2.5 GSPS (DAC38J84)

The DAC38J84 is the industry’s fastest 16-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC). The 4-channel, 2.5-GSPS DAC38J84 is 66 percent faster than the competition and supports the JEDEC JESD204B serial interface standard for data converters up to 12.5 Gbps. The pin-compatible 2-channel, 16-bit DAC38J82 also runs at 2.5 GSPS, 25 percent faster than existing 16-bit dual DACs. 

Industry's first precision rail-to-rail input and output 36-V op amp (OPA192)

TI introduces the industry’s first 36-V rail-to-rail input and output (RRIO) operational amplifier (op amp) to achieve precision offset voltage and drift without  using auto-zero techniques. The OPA192 achieves stable offset voltage drift over the full specified temperature range, which eliminates the need for system level calibration.

10-Gbps serial link aggregator ICs (TLK10081and TLK10022)

The TLK10081and TLK10022 10-Gbps serial link aggregator ICs allow system designers to reduce the number of gigabit serial links required for communications, video, imaging and many other end equipment. They aggregate and de-aggregate point-to-point serial data streams for transmission over backplanes, copper cables and optical links. With TI aggregator ICs, designers can avoid the costly and time-consuming development of custom aggregator IP for high-performance FPGAs or ASICs.

Interface IC for tablet/notebook displays (SN65DSI86)

TI’s SN65DSI86 interface IC supports the industry’s highest screen resolution up to 4K2Kp60. It provides a MIPI® DSI bridge between the graphics processor and embedded DisplayPort (eDP) panel. Compared to competitive devices, the SN65DSI86’s 1.5-Gbps DSI data rate delivers more than 30-percent higher bandwidth. In addition, its dual MIPI DSI channels in a 20-percent smaller, 5-mm by 5-mm package saves PCB area, providing system designers greater design flexibility for space constrained mobile applications.

Power factor correction (PFC) controller (UCC28180)

TI's 8-pin, continuous conduction mode PFC controller reduces power dissipation in shunt resistor by 50 percent while delivering power factor greater than 0.95.

Nanopower boost charger with integrated step-down regulator (bq25570)

TI's next-generation power management integrated circuits efficiently acquire and manage microwatts (uW) to milliwatts (mW) of power harvested from light, heat or mechanical energy sources. The bq25570, bq25505, TPS62740, TPS62737 and TPS62736 maintain the industry’s lowest levels of active quiescent current and enable battery-free operation to wireless sensor networks, monitoring systems, wearable medical devices, mobile accessories and other applications with limited access to power.

Industry's most extensive reference design library (TI Designs)

TI Designs is the industry’s most extensive reference design library, spanning TI’s broad portfolio of analog, embedded processor and connectivity products for industrial, automotive, consumer, communications and computing applications, among others. TI Designs are comprehensive, enabling customers to jump-start their designs with system- and subsystem-level solutions.

Each TI Design reference design includes test data, a schematic or block diagram, bill of materials (BOM) and design files that help explain the circuit’s function and performance. Support material may also include models, software, code examples, design guides, evaluation modules and more to take system designers even further down the design path. 

FemtoFET MOSFET Transistors (CSD17381F4, CSD25481F4)

TI's family of FemtoFET™ MOSFET transistors feature ultra-small packaging and on-resistance below 100 milli-ohm. The small signal MOSFET transistors save power and extend battery life of mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets.

Floating MOSFET switch (TPS92411)

Floating switch architecture simplifies the offline linear drive of LEDs in lamps, downlights and fixtures. The AC switched matrix technique features TI's TPS92411 floating MOSFET switch and is an innovative approach to producing low-ripple LED drive current without magnetic components.

Class-D stereo amplifier (TPA3131D2)

TI's Class-D stereo amplifier produces size-defying sound for ultrabooks, Bluetooth speakers, and tablet and ultrabook docking stations. The TPA3131D2 is the industry’s first Class-D amplifier to deliver 7W from a miniature QFN package. It produces more than three times the power output compared to high definition audio codecs, and it's half the package size of discrete amplifiers with comparable output, while delivering longer standby battery life.

DC/DC synchronous buck controller (LM27403)

Analog DC/DC step-down controller with remote bipolar junction transistor (BJT) temperature-compensated inductor current sensing that minimizes total solution footprint in high-power POL conversion applications, including communications infrastructure, industrial, medical and power module.

10-A SIMPLE SWITCHER® power modules (LMZ31710/07/04)

The SIMPLE SWITCHER 10-A LMZ31710, 7-A LMZ31707 and 4-A LMZ31704 integrated power solutions combine a DC/DC converter with power MOSFETs, a shielded inductor and passives into a low-profile QFN package, providing a complete power management solution with as few as three external components.

Digital current sensor and voltage monitor (LMP92064)

TI introduces the industry's first digital current sensor and voltage monitor for fast and precise power monitoring in communications applications such as telecom, servers and central office equipment.

Closed-loop I2S audio amplifiers (TAS5760xx)

TI's TAS5760xx closed-loop I2S amplifier family features high switching frequency, allowing designers to use smaller output filter components to reduce overall solution size and BOM cost. They stream 20-W continuous power per channel without a heatsink, and deliver the industry’s best performance for mid-power stereo audio applications including TVs, soundbars, portable docking stations, Bluetooth® speakers, and aftermarket automotive audio products.

TI unveils first current-sharing LDOs for harsh environments

TI introduced the first current-sharing low-dropout (LDO) linear voltage regulators for harsh environments. The current-sharing feature of the 3-A TPS7H1101-SP and the 0.5-A TPS7H1201-HT allows designers to use two devices in parallel for twice the output current. The devices also offer excellent noise performance, as well as minimize thermal dissipation and increase power efficiency for optimal system reliability

Industry's first inductance-to-digital converter (LDC1000)

The LDC1000 is the industry’s first inductance-to-digital converter (LDC), a new data converter category that uses coils and springs as inductive sensors to deliver higher resolution, increased reliability, and greater flexibility than existing sensing solutions at a lower system cost. Inductive sensing is a contactless sensing technology that can be used to measure the position, motion, or composition of a metal or conductive target, as well as detect the compression, extension or twist of a spring.
