Linear voltage regulators (LP5907 and LP38798)

250-mA LP5907 and 800-mA LP38798 LDOs from Texas Instruments feature less than 10-µVrms output noise over the 10-Hz to 100-kHz bandwidth, eliminating the need for expensive and bulky filtering in a wide range of high-performance applications.

Interface ICs for connecting tablet displays and keyboards (SN65DSI85 and TCA8424)

TI introduced two new devices to ease design for tablet designers. The TCA8424 is the industry’s first HID over I2C, 128-key keyboard controller. It eliminates the need to program the device at production, simplifying design and speeding time-to-market. The keyboard controller provides a cost-effective and seamless way to interface keyboards with Windows® 8-based systems. The SN65DSI85 is a digital serial interface to FlatLink™ interface IC that makes it easier and more cost-effective for designers to connect graphics processors to LCD panels. It supports screen resolutions up to 2560 by 1600p.

 

LED drivers (TPS92640-41-60)

TI's TPS92660 two-string LED driver and TPS92640/1 synchronous buck controllers address the challenges of precise color and brightness control lighting that designers face in creating high quality light engines for commercial area lighting, including architectural and retail displays, as well as LED-based projection systems and automotive running lights.

8-channel PWM audio processor (TAS5548)

The industry’s first 8-channel, PWM audio processor with dual asynchronous sample rate converters (ASRCs) integrated on a single chip. The TAS5548 allows home and pro audio designers to seamlessly mix two audio sources, providing design flexibility and cost savings compared to competitive solutions that require two chips.

Multi-cell battery capacity monitor for lead-acid batteries (bq34z110)

The first lead-acid battery management gas gauge integrated circuit with TI’s proprietary Impedance Track™ capacity measurement technology. The bq34z110 gas gauge IC, which comes in a small 14-pin package, is the industry’s only scalable power management device to support multi-cell lead-acid battery packs with battery voltages of 4 V, 12 V, 24 V, 48 V and higher. The highly accurate, simple-to-use gauge supports batteries used in mobile and stationary applications like medical instruments, wireless base stations and telecom shelters, e-bikes, inverters  and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). 

Haptic driver for ERM and LRA actuators (DRV2605)

TI's DRV2605 the industry’s only ERM/LRA haptic driver pre-loaded with a library of 123 distinct haptic effects, making it easy to add realistic tactile feedback effects to consumer and industrial products. It features a smart loop architecture that reduces startup and braking time by half, delivers twice the vibration strength, and consumes 50-percent less power to extend battery life, compared to competitive solutions.

10-A SWIFT Step-Down Converter [TPS54020]

New synchronous step-down DC/DC converter with integrated MOSFETs in a very small 3.5-mm by 3.5-mm HotRod™ QFN package. The SWIFT™ 10-A TPS54020 features the highest power density and includes frequency synchronization, 180-degree out-of-phase switching and selectable current limit to power FPGAs, system-on-chip (SoC), DSPs and processors in high-voltage, space-constrained communication, gaming and industrial computing applications.

4.5-A Li-Ion battery chargers (bq2419x)

Lithium-ion battery charger integrated circuits (ICs) that reduce charge time by 50 percent in smartphones and tablets compared to other charger solutions. The bq2419x family of 4.5-A output, 20-V input-rated switch-mode chargers with I2C interface and USB On-the-Go (OTG) support delivers faster and cooler charging to a wide array of applications ranging from power banks and packs to 4G LTE routers, Wi-Fi speakers, portable medical and industrial designs. TI’s new bq24190, bq24192, bq24192i, bq24193, bq24195, bq24195L and bq24196 fast-charge circuits reduce charge time through battery path impedance compensation, and offer programmable thermal management capability to ensure the safest, most reliable system operation

Reconfigurable DC arc detect reference solution (RD-195)

TI’s RD-195 makes it faster and easier for designers to safeguard high-power DC systems against the catastrophic damage that can result from arc faults. Designers can program the RD-195 to optimize the balance between arc-detection accuracy and false detection prevention to meet their system needs. The RD-195 is accompanied by a software application tool that enables alteration of threshold detection parameters.

High-speed data converter system evaluation kit (HSDC-SEK-10)

The HSDC-SEK-10 is the industry’s first complete high-speed data converter system evaluation kit. It significantly reduces system evaluation costs and enables designers to get their system running in minutes. The kit includes a pattern capture card, pattern generator card, low-jitter clock source, clean 10-MHz signal source and a multi-output regulated power supply.

Smart bypass diode (SM74611)

TI's SM74611 is a smart bypass diode in a standard surface-mount package with 15-A current handling capability and the industry’s lowest power dissipation.

Fly-Buck DC/DC converters (LM25017/8/9)

Industry’s first 48-V constant on-time synchronous step-down converter integrates MOSFETs and features COT control architecture to reduce size and cost of single- and multi-output power supplies for automotive and industrial applications

3-phase, brushless DC (BLDC) motor drivers (DRV10866 and DRV11873)

Two 3-phase, brushless DC (BLDC) motor drivers allow designers to spin motors in minutes rather than months. The sensorless 5-V, 680-mA DRV10866 and the 12-V, 1.5-A DRV11873 cut external component count to one with no firmware required, and significantly reduces board space and system costs. The devices also provide the lowest operating voltage and standby current to reduce power consumption by up to 75 percent.

Point-of-load DC/DC converters (TPS50601 and TPS50301)

The 6.3-V, 6-A TPS50601 and the 6.3-V, 3-A TPS50301 are synchronous step- down converters optimized for small form factor designs. They are the industry’s smallest monolithic point-of-load (POL) DC/DC converters for harsh environments, including radiation tolerant, geological, heavy industrial, and oil and gas applications. They slash board space by 50 percent compared to other solutions.

VID interface controller (LM10011)

TI's LM10011 is the first VID controller designed to operate along with a point-of-load regulator to adjust the core voltage (VCORE) of a VID-enabled processor, such as TI’s C6000™ power-optimized DSPs and KeyStone multicore DSPs.

Wideband Frequency Synthesizer (LMX2581)

TI’s LMX2581 wideband frequency synthesizer with integrated VCO delivers the industry’s lowest phase noise. The LMX2581 combines the capability to drive highest system performance along with the flexibility of a wideband frequency synthesizer that outputs 50 to 3760 MHz. It allows designers to use one frequency synthesizer to support a variety of demanding applications in wireless infrastructure, radar, medical imaging, defense and aerospace, and test and measurement.

AFEs for test and measurement, wireless communications, and optical networking systems (AFE7070 & AFE7071)

The AFE7070 and AFE7071 analog front ends (AFEs) provide low power, high performance and space savings for test and measurement, wireless communications and optical networking equipment. The AFE7071 is a complete radio transmitter that reduces board space by up to 80 percent compared to discrete implementations. It integrates a dual digital-to-analog converter (DAC), tunable baseband filters, IQ modulator and digital quadrature modulation correction circuit. The AFE7070 adds a direct digital synthesizer (DDS) with 32-bit numerically controlled oscillator (NCO) and LVDS output buffer. 

Lowest-power 24-bit, 3-channel ECG AFE (ADS1293)

The ADS1293 is the industry’s most power-efficient 24-bit, 3-channel AFE for biopotential measurement applications, such as portable, battery-powered electrocardiogram (ECG) solutions, Holter monitors and wireless patient monitoring equipment.

First 4-MB Flash memory device for harsh environments (SM28VLT32-HT)

The SM28VLT32-HT is the industry’s first high-temperature, nonvolatile Flash memory device for harsh environments. It has an operational capacity of 4 MB and eliminates the need for costly up-screening and qualification testing of industrial-grade components for temperature ranges outside data sheet specifications. The device allows data logging at extreme temperatures and is guaranteed for at least 1,000 hours of operating life in harsh environment applications, including oil and gas exploration, heavy industrial, and avionics.

Adapter power controller (UCC28710)

New UCC28710 power management controller with a 700-V start-up switch that achieves less than 10 mW of “no-load” standby power in 5- and 10-watt cube adapters used with smartphones and tablets. In addition to the lower power capability, the new primary-side, regulated flyback controller helps designers create smaller cube adapters and AC-powered equipment.

Wireless power transfer controller (bq500410A)
TI’s bq500410A is the first wireless power transfer controller to support 3-coil transmitters compliant to the Wireless Power Consortium. The controller allows a Qi-compliant smartphone or other portable device to charge in a surface area of at least 70 mm by 20 mm, 400-percent larger compared to today’s 18-mm by 18-mm “bull’s-eye” charge space.
